Have just finished reading Tristan Hill's book for the first of many times I'm sure. I am not a Personal Trainer, however I visit gyms regularly as a client to maintain and lift my level of health and fitness. 'LIFTING THE BAR' has given me a fuller understanding of the 'why' and 'wherefore' of the exercises that I need to be doing. I can see now how it is extremely important for PT's to have this in-depth understanding of the 5 P's to achieve the best results for their clients. A very practical read indeed.
This book is great. Tristan lays out the way it is in the fitness profession with clarity and precision, without the woo and hype that's hard to get away from these days. The road to becoming a successful fitness trainer is a minefield for most people and what the profession needs is more real-life roadmaps like this one. I'm a sports physiotherapist and rely on personal trainers to deliver effective programming for my athletes without breaking them - which takes a long time to strike the right balance. I will be recommending all the trainers in my network to read this if they haven't done so already.
This is an amazing read. Although I am not a Personal Trainer (who I believe it would be most valuable for), I have been involved in gyms and exercise centres most of my adult life and have often wished I understood a bit more about what I was doing. This book provides me with that insight. I have a much clearer idea about what I should be heading for, and how to get there. The language is easy to follow, the concepts make sense and the examples inspirational. I believe I have learnt more through reading this book than has been offered to me through trainers for a very long time.
This book is an eye opener, When I became a personal trainer I was oblivious to almost everything in this book, My course did not touch on anything that is written here but thankfully this book came to my rescue and I am now on my way to being a successful trainer. Grab this book and follow it to the letter , study the 5 P's and implement them into your business today. With this handy little book the sky is the limit for you and your personal training career.
